6 Things I Do Everyday
Continuing on, much like the 8 things I do Every Month, the 8 things I do Every Week, there is a list of 6 things I do every single day. So let’s get to it (in no particular order)….
Throw a load of laundry in. Every morning I throw in a load of laundry. See the 5 ways I simplified laundry here!
Run the dishwasher. I started doing this years ago when we first started fostering, we run the dishwasher every night and empty it every morning! It helps keep dishes from piling up in the sink. Every evening I quick go through the kitchen to make sure dishes, cups, water bottles etc are all loaded in the dishwasher.
Get myself ready. I have been home full time since 2017, first working full time from home, then working part time from home, and now just being home with my kids. It is easy to not “get ready” if we aren’t leaving the house. But I have found I handle the day a lot better if I get dressed (even if its running shorts and a t-shirt), brush my teeth, do a short routine to take care of my skin (I have been using THIS and THIS). Make the bed. I have been doing this for years and years and years. I don’t remember where I heard it but it was something about how important it is to make your bed everyday. Growing up I HATED making my bed, to the point I would sleep under just the comforter so I wouldn’t have to fix the sheet. But I really enjoy climbing into a made bed everyday. The room feels better when the bed is made too. Plus its just part of my routine!
Close the kitchen down. Similar to #2 above, in the evening I clean up the kitchen, make sure the dishwasher is loaded. Clean up anything on the counters that I can quickly handle and get put away. I am to go to bed with nothing left sitting in the sink.
Clean up the living room toys. This is just the season we are in with 2 littles and no playroom. We had years of fostering that we had a playroom and the toys (for the most part) stayed in the play area. But we currently don’t have a playroom at this house so it just kind of feels like the toys are everywhere. But every evening when I close the kitchen down, I make sure any toys that got missed earlier are picked up (our 3 year old picks up her own toys before bed, our 7 month old obviously does not).
There you have it. The 6 things I aim to do every. single. day. It helps keep things afloat around here.
