6 Tips to Simplify Easter Baskets

Over the years I think holidays have gotten a bit…. crazy? I don’t know, there are so many people giving gift guide ideas etc for every single holiday. But realistically, when we started fostering, I wanted to make holidays special without bringing a bunch of extra stuff into our home. SO I have really focused on meaningful and useful gifts for our kids. Here are some ideas to simplify Easter baskets at your house this year….

  1. Summer gear items. It is a great time to think ahead to summer; what items would you be needing to buy for the upcoming spring/summer season. Who says Easter basket items can’t be practical items. Here are some ideas:

    • Swimsuit

    • Swimsuit cover ups

    • Sun glasses

    • Shorts/t-shirts

    • Sandals

  2. Spring/Summer toys. Much like items above, it’s a great time to think about spring/summer toy items that maybe you need to replace or that are age appropriate for this year! Ideas:

    • Bubbles

    • Bubble machine

    • Sand toys (bucket, shovel etc)

    • Water toys/pool toys

    • Jump rope

  3. Consumables. It is always good to think about items that are used up/need to be replaced and won’t need to find a “new” place in your house/toy area. Some consumable ideas:

    • Snacks

    • Stickers

    • Crayons

    • Coloring/activity books

    • Construction paper

    • Dot markers

    • Markers

    • Play-doh

  4. Other basket stuffer ideas:

    • Card games (we like to have Spot It or other age appropriate cards to take when we go out to eat etc)

    • Water bottle (a great time to replace your kiddos if needed!)

    • New cup

    • Eating utensils

    • Socks

    • Bibs

  5. Egg stuffers. Here are some ideas of things to put inside those plastic Easter eggs:

    • Small snacks

    • Candy

    • Coins (pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters…. kids love it! Obviously for older kids that aren’t putting everything in their mouths)

    • Dollar bill (kids LOVE finding a dollar bill in an egg!)

6. Kiddos close in age and/or dreading the fight over an Easter egg hunt? Several years for our kiddos, each kiddo was assigned a specific color egg. They had to find their color during the egg hunt. This also can help if you have kids in very different stages of life to make sure the stuff inside of their egg is age appropriate! We haven’t done this every year but it has worked well in certain seasons for us!

I hope this year you can find joy in simplifying Easter, celebrating the real reason for Easter with family and friends. He is RISEN, happy Easter friend!
