Home Progress April 10, 2022

A lot has been happening around here the last month or so! We officially moved February 1, 2022 and it took some time to get things rolling out at the homestead. BUT things are starting to happen and dirt is moving!

First up, we have a 72’ by 36’ barn going up! Several people have already asked why we would put a barn up before starting the house. There is a couple reasons for that. The first being, we need a place to start storing materials, equipment etc. We have a “storage unit” on our property with all of the stuff we brought from Colorado. But we need a place to set up tools and everything to be able to work on the house once we break ground on that!

Second, we have to get power and water on the property. We bought 40 acres of completely undeveloped land so it is a project to get power pulled where we need it and hopefully a working water well.

Each of these things requires us to pull permits with the county/state and coordinate a lot of things.

Which may lead you to the next question, why isn’t our builder handling all of this? Well, we aren’t using one. We are handling all of this on our own (obviously things will need to be hired out as we go along).

SO that is where things are at now, we have a lot of pieces in progress, each happening one little step at a time!
