Surprise!

Surprise! We bought a fixer upper! Are you shocked? Don’t worry, we are too ha! This was NOT the plan…

Today marks 6 months since we officially sold our Colorado house and started living in a 5th wheel, in Wyoming. If you’ve been following along, our plan was and STILL IS to build our forever home on the 40 acres we bought in December 2021. However, we have hit just about every single road block possible in regards to our house building. As of now, we still don’t have power and water on our land and have no dates of when we will have those. Meaning, we won’t be breaking ground on our house out there this summer. Yes, we’ve been living in a camp ground for 6 full months.

So, we decided to shift our plans and buy a small house in town to fix up and live in until our forever house is done. Except…. we didn’t buy a small house that needed small updates. We bought a 5 bedroom house that needed to be completely gutted. So there’s that.

What about our 5th wheel? Glad you asked, we will be selling it in the near future. If you are interested in a toy hauler 5th wheel, let us know! (We have a full skirt for it also). While I always had a desire to live in a tiny home, living in a camper, in a camp ground, with a 1 year old and an 80lb dog for 6 months satisfied that dream…. tiny living is not for us, at least at this point in our life ha!

Did I mention we live in Wyoming? Have you heard Wyoming is windy? Winter in Wyoming is REALLY COLD and REALLY WINDY. There were many days and nights I was positive our 5th wheel was going to blow over in the wind. To the point, I cried, more then once. There were also many mornings we woke up and our water was frozen despite all our efforts to keep everything heated.

We love camping but we decided to leave camping for camping…. campers are not meant to be lived in full time, you can fight me on it but I am not going to change my mind. (Now if you are full time RV living and traveling around the country that is awesome. Living full time in a camp ground stationary, not so awesome).

So… here’s to renovating our 1977 house!
