House Reno Update 10.21.22

I had really good intentions of keeping up with posts as we worked through the house renovation projects but turns out it didn’t happen. BUT things have been really busy and coming along at casa de fixer upper!

We completely gutted the upstairs of the house and have been slowly getting it put back together. We also officially moved out of the 5th wheel and into the house September 18! (Our camper is for sale if you are in the market for one!)

But before I share with you what all we have done putting it back together, I want to share some demo pictures! Because if you are thinking of taking on some projects, its important to remember it gets worse before it gets better!

The demo project:

• We removed ALL the flooring. It was a lot of original 1977s carpet and the kitchen had 2 layers of linoleum

• We removed the walls between the kitchen and the main living room area

• We removed the coat closet by the front door (that is actually on the side of the house)

• We completely gutted the main bathroom

• We scraped all the popcorn ceilings

• We removed all the existing light fixtures/fans

• We removed all of the wallpaper

• We removed all the baseboards so we could install new flooring

• We removed all the window trim so we could add more insulation and change the trim style.

• We gutted the kitchen completely- cabinets and all

• We removed the boxed in area that was above the old cabinets to the ceiling

  It was not a small project. Originally our plan was to renovate one room at a time so we could easily live in it while renovating. However we discovered on closing day that they had started smoking in the house after we went under contract and everything smelled like smoke. So we opted to stay in the camper a bit longer while we gutted and started renovating.
